CANADA
A work trip with two weekends of exploring
This Canada trip was a little different to my usual adventures — it was a work trip, but around our schedule we had two weekends (and a few spare pockets of time!) to explore as much as we could. We stayed just outside Toronto and squeezed in food stops, sightseeing, day trips and all the cosy Canadian vibes.
Here’s a rundown of everything we got up to… and a few things I’d 100% recommend if you’re planning your own trip!
Where we stayed — Mississauga City
We based ourselves in Mississauga, a super handy location just outside Toronto. Perfect for work days, commuting and quick access to the main city when we had downtime. There’s loads of food, shopping and parks nearby too.

WHAT WE DID IN OUR FREE TIME
Toronto Zoo
We spent one of our free days at the Toronto Zoo, which is huge, super well-kept and home to so many animals — perfect for a chilled weekend activity.

Tim Hortons + Poutine Moments
You can’t go to Canada without a Tim Hortons stop. We grabbed snacks, coffees, and of course… poutine — the ultimate Canadian comfort food.

Downtown Toronto
Whenever we finished work early, we headed downtown for walks, coffees and exploring.
Coffee in Toronto City
So many cute cafés and such a cosy atmosphere.
Yonge–Dundas Square (Shopping!)
Known as Toronto’s “mini Times Square” — full of shops, lights and energy.

Dinner at Montana’s BBQ & Bar
Such good comfort food — ribs, burgers, wings and big portions. The perfect post-work meal.

CN Tower
One evening we went to the CN Tower — one of Toronto’s most iconic landmarks. Amazing views over the city and a must-do if it’s your first time visiting.

Niagara Falls Day Trip
We made a whole day of this and it was SO worth it. Niagara Falls is only 1.5 hours from Toronto and honestly looks unreal in person — the sound, the scale, everything.

FINAL THOUGHTS✨
Even though this was mainly a work trip, we really made the most of our spare time and fit so much into the weekends. Toronto is such an easy city to explore, Mississauga was super convenient to stay in, and Niagara Falls was the perfect day trip highlight.
